About Tsavo East National Park
Tsavo East National Park is one of Kenya's largest protected wildlife areas and is famous for its immense red-earth landscapes, broad horizons and free-ranging elephant herds often dusted in the park's distinctive red soil. The park's open terrain makes wildlife viewing especially rewarding.
The Galana River, seasonal watercourses and extensive savannah support elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and diverse birdlife. The park is also known for dramatic features such as the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls.
Tsavo East is especially convenient for travellers starting from Mombasa, Diani or the Kenya Coast, and it combines naturally with Tsavo West, Taita Hills, Amboseli and longer inland safari circuits.
